Many fans are now wondering how Rock vs. Cena II will live up to the hype, when Punk vs. Cena tore the house down just six weeks before it. WWE could've easily put last night's match on at WrestleMania and nobody would've complained. Rock vs. Cena probably won't live up to the precedent Cena and Punk have set in terms of a quality wrestling match. But the truth of the situation about WrestleMania's main event is that a high quality wrestling match isn't what WWE are going for.
It's to the detriment of the fans at times, but the unfortunate truth about professional wrestling is that the almighty dollar is the only thing which matters. To Vince McMahon, John Cena vs. The Rock is the match which will bring in more money at WrestleMania. Forget about the hardcore fan such as you or I, WWE wants a match which will attract the people who don't watch WWE very much and make them part with their cash.
The quality of the match isn't as important as it's attractiveness to the non-nerd.
I'm the same as all of you; I'd far rather have the match which will be of better quality when it gets to the ring. I'd far rather see John Cena and CM Punk tear the house down at MetLife Stadium because they're that good together then see Rock and Cena wrestle again just because that will supposedly bring in more money. But I'm not Vince McMahon, and this isn't how I pay my bills or buy my yachts. I'm just a fan who wants to watch the best pro-wrestlers have the best pro-wrestling matches.
John Cena vs. The Rock will not be the best wrestling match at WrestleMania, but that's not really what Vince McMahon cares about. And that is the most unfortunate truth of pro-wrestling.

I agree with your thoughts. But I can live with it, lets see what they make out of it.
What I am more angry about is that they ended a big one and a half year storyline (Cena does not beat Punk) on a Monday evening. This would have been the PPV main event for 2013 after Cena winning the title (with Cena rightfully going over).
Oh yeah, that wasn't a "I don't like this why is it happening thing". But yeah, I'm with you on the Cena vs. Punk being a PPV main event thing. I suppose we should think ourselves lucky we got it for free.
